My opinion of Charles Lane, not that high to begin with, dropped several notches after reading this truly lame column in this morning’s Washington Post.
www.washingtonpost.com/…
Leaving aside the question of whether this is the time to be kicking Bernie Sanders (I was a Hillary supporter in the primaries, btw), the whole premise of the piece is ridiculous. It’s the old trope that liberals and progressives are hypocrites if they have wealth or property. After all, how can you possibly criticize the abuses of the financial elite and at the same time want a house on the lake?
Puh-leez! This is the most juvenile posturing possible - the kind of thing I expect from the head of the high school Republican club. By this reasoning, every progressive with personal wealth is a hypocrite, from FDR to JFK to LBJ, even to Barack Obama.
It’s a silly piece of tripe and Lane should be ashamed for putting his name on it. And WaPo for publishing it.
