Republicans have a big advantage in the House of Representatives, which they hold 247 to 186. But Donald Trump is a disastrous enough candidate to have them worried. A Republican Super PAC is pouring $10 million into advertising to protect vulnerable Republican incumbents and try to pick off vulnerable Democrats, spending that reflects the fear of Trump’s downballot drag. But meanwhile,
House Republicans’ campaign arm raised $4.6 million in July, a sharp decline from previous months that threatens to place the group at a significant disadvantage against its Democratic counterpart leading up to the November election.
Officials with the National Republican Campaign Committee attributed the drop—from $9.3 million in June—in part to a difficult environment during the two parties’ national conventions.
Republican billionaires will ensure that the party’s Super PACs have plenty of money, but the fundraising drop-off at the NRCC may reflect depressed enthusiasm and the panic over the possibility of losing the Senate, which Democrats have a strong chance to retake.
Please give $6 to help retake the House.
