I’ve been wondering how Hilary Clinton can debate Donald Trump and his bag of insults.
As someone who likes jokes, I have been impressed by Trump. His destruction of “low energy” Jeb was a thing of beauty. It was like watching a man with a top hat get mugged in an alley. Jeb never saw it coming.
So how do you take down Trump? For me, a big clue came from Jeff Ross, America’s “Roastmaster General” on the Jimmy Kimmel show. Kimmel asked Ross about his experience roasting Trump. Here is what Ross said:
“You can make fun of his hair, his appearance, the fact that he can our first orange American president. None of that bothers him. What bothers him is jokes... you can even make fun of his family he doesn’t care, what hurts him is if you make fun of the fact that he has gone bankrupt in the past…. that’s the one thing that he is super sensitive about...you can’t make fun of how much money he has lost…”
3 good things about the “bankrupt Don” attack
1. It’s legitimate. He wants to be judged on his business prowess, but his business deals only lead to bankruptcy. It’s not a personal attack.
2. It’s funny. It’s as good as “low energy Jeb” or “little Marco”
3. His business success is key to why his followers like him. If Trump were a 3rd grade teacher who tutored on Wednesday nights saying the same policies, he would look like another idiot. But since money = success = virtue then Trump is legit.
Thankfully, Hilary knows this and we need to follow suit:
