I got a biopsy done yesterday, no the official results are not in, yet. But during the discussion we had before and during it put it at a 100% chance it is. We just don’t know how aggressive it is.
Ok, back story. My PSA levels two years ago hit 5.8. Since my doctor was using a new lab and he didn’t totally trust some of their readings, he passed it off. My partner found the lab in my folder in February and freaked out. Since I have a history of prostatitis, I wasn’t taking it seriously. But a retest of my PSA hit 10.2. Now we get me into a urologist. He bedside manner and overtly attitude towards my orientation put me off. I scheduled to see Dr. Bill Ellis at UW-Med for July (he has a 4 month backlog). I go get a couple more tests run — 11 and 10.0… Now to Dr Ellis, he agrees these numbers while on the low-bad end, point to something going on. And due to my multiple allergies to antibiotics, he has me do a ultra-fine MRI scan. That comes back with two spots. Both are in an out of the way location that a regular finger poke exam would have never shown.
At UW-Med they have a way of taking the MRI and merging it with the ultrasound taken at the time of the biopsy. The big one, yes it is cancer. The smaller one, shows to be a calcium deposit. He took 3 samples of the big one, attempted to get one of the small one (yep it was calcium) and 9 more around.
So we come down to it… Just waiting on the answers. I am not asking for any physical assistance — my insurance is good and the company I work for is being very gracious about this. What is need is your thoughts and prayers. I never thought I would be on the asking side… Bummer.
