It’s time for another get-together of Seattle and Puget Sound Kossacks!
So, I thought I’d post a short diary in hope that others may see this, and consider joining us...I know you’re out there :-) Join us if you can...shoot me a kos-message if you’re interested. Please excuse the short notice.
Location:
Columbia City Ale House (over 21, sorry)
4914 Rainier Ave. S., Seattle — website
Time:
Sunday, August 14, 2016. 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Agenda:
The primary is over, what does the political landscape look like now? We will certainly talk about that. And with hope, meet some new people.
We’ve just had our primary here in the Great Northwest August 2nd. Here are a few results.
The Quest to Replace Jim McDermott
No major surprises really. Fueled by the Power of The Bern, Pramila Jayapal easily beat the field to replace my congressman, Jim McDermott in WA-07. My favorite, Joe McDermott (no relation) is currently duking it out with Brady Walkinshaw for second place as the votes are still being counted. Any of these three will be great to send to DC. I know Joe however, and I’d love to see him elected. It would be rather fun to be on a first-name basis with a US Congressman I think.
WTF?
Tony Ventrella, a long-time local sportscaster, he’s secured a spot to run as a Democrat for US Congress in WA-08, beating out two other fine Democrats. The only problem...he decided to drop out of the race, but unfortunately not in time to have his name removed from the ballot! He won’t campaign, but has said he will help down-ballot Legislative District contests. Gee, thanks Tony! (What will it take to bounce Republican Dave Reichert out of that seat anyway, geez.)
In (ahem) Other Races
It appears that perennial candidate for some office or another, Goodspaceguy, failed yet again to reach the general election….this time for governor, garnering only 1% of the vote.governor. Another familiar name on the ballot, Mike the Mover (aka Uncle Mover) roared into 11th place in his quest to defeat Patty Murray for US Senate...maybe next time Mike.
Anyway, come join us and enjoy a beverage and/or a meal and talk some Northwest politics.
