After dropping to a double-digit deficit against Hillary Clinton in multiple national and battleground state polls, the Trump camp says all is going according to plan. Nick Gass writes:
The "drop in poll numbers" was "expected" after the Democratic National Convention, [Paul] Manafort told "CBS This Morning." [...]
"We always thought we had a bounce and knew the Democrats would have a bounce. And now you see a situation in what looks like an uneven field but in two weeks we think that’s gonna even out if we are out there on our message, which we will be.
"The framework of this election favors Donald Trump. If we run the campaign that we plan on running, we think we’re going to win. We don't plan on winning in August," Manafort continued.
Well said, Paul. Trump executed perfectly: insulting grieving Gold Star parents, trivializing the meaning of a Purple Heart, berating a baby (always a vote getter). Perfect!
And now, he's tanking. That must be some "plan."
