Twitter this morning did it again, shocked the hell out me. Two cups of coffee had not done the trick of waking me up, but one twitter had the power of ten espressos.
I was told a few days ago, by an icon of journalism integrity (readers are free to add snark, or not), The New York Time that Clinton’s gesture involving a hand and a heart, is brand new. More importantly, in case you wondered how it is done, article provides insightful details: Up goes her hand. And she places it over her heart”
Why the exercise? Why, it’s the “subliminal message of sincerity” of course. But, but but … because there is no way Clinton and “sincerity” are in the same sentence in direct correlation, be aware the article says. Language experts after their committee hearing confirmed: It's contrived!
When Hillary Clinton told her audience at a rally in Las Vegas on Thursday “Here’s what I believe,” she punctuated those words with not just a vocal flourish but a physical one. Up went her hand, placed over her heart.
It’s a gesture unfamiliar from her past campaigns, but it’s a favorite this time around. In Columbus, Ohio, and Omaha, Mrs. Clinton spoke of her late father, and up went her hand, placed over her heart.
At the Democratic National Convention, when she took the stage to wild applause, she cued the audience on how grateful, moved and humbled she felt by putting her hand to her heart, once, twice, then a third and fourth time.
It’s a subliminal message of sincerity that some language experts consider contrived.
Bill McGowan, a communications coach and chief executive of Clarity Media Group, calls the hand-on-heart motion “the gesture du jour.”
So, imagine my shock — ten espressos, why bother with the milk — when I read this morning that apparently, 20 years ago, Hillary Clinton had raised her hand, and oh the horror, put it in her heart. The source did not explain if the gesture then was considered the subliminal message or sincerity, however, knowing what we know about the Clinton’s, it must have been done for some nefarious reasons.
But ladies and gentlemen, what we do know so far: Hillary Clinton had a hand 20 years ago, she also had a heart. And up it went …
Post scriptum: Imagine the questions in the following video, asked differently “People don’t believe you have a heart, or a hand, how do you respond to that?”

It’s my first diary, packing for my vacation, last minute paper work for my job — queen of procrastination here, nice meeting you all- so I forgot to mention one important detail: Google can be your enemy, but also your friend. If you search for “Clinton, hand gesture” a few images will pop up. One picture for example, was taken during her time as Secretary of State.
