Maria A. Oquendo, M.D., President of the APA, has admonished member psychiatrists to refrain from diagnosing Donald Trump without having personally treated him. “The unique atmosphere of this year’s election cycle may lead some to want to psychoanalyze the candidates, but to do so would not only be unethical, it would be irresponsible,” Oquendo stated in an APA blog, citing the “Goldwater Rule”.
In other news, NOAA has ordered weather reporters to refrain from reporting tornado activity — clearly visible on NOAA’s own radar and satellite imagery — unless they’ve been personally sucked out of their boots by a twister.
