During a White House briefing it was made clear that the president could obtain any taxpayer’s tax information. abcnews.go.com/...
The language, flagged first by a POLITICO reporter during today's White House briefing, is under I.R.C. 6013(g), which outlines how a president "upon written request" can obtain the "return or return information with respect to any taxpayer."
I could live with precedent that any residing president could obtain and force a presidential nominee to release their taxes, if they didn’t voluntarily release them, as I feel that it would serve the greater good of future elections.
