The Trump campaign’s statement about all the inaccuracies and omissions in reporting about the Donald J. Trump Foundation failed to point out a single one of those errors. But it did make a try at dismissing the whole thing.
There was no, or could not be any, intent for the Trump Foundation to make improper payments.
Really? Because Donald Trump provided a really good reason why he loves taking money out of the Trump Foundation and using it however he wants.
Donald Trump, in hot water over a report that his charity used donations to cover business-related legal fees, told a campaign rally crowd on Tuesday that “there’s nothing like doing things with other people’s money.”
Trump himself has given only $10,000 to charity and none to the Trump Foundation since 2007. The money that he’s using to pay off legal fees for cheating at golf, for buying a signed NFL helmet, and paying political bribes was all other people's money.
“It’s called OPM. I do that all the time in business. It’s called other people’s money. There’s nothing like doing things with other people’s money,” Trump said. “Because it takes, the risk, you get a good chunk of it and it takes the risk.”
This is one of those rare occasions when you can actually trust Donald Trump. When it comes to doing things with other people’s money, he’s an expert.
