Donald Trump thinks voters should support him because he’s super wealthy, which shows that he’s brilliant and a strong leader. Trump also thinks voters shouldn’t get to see his tax returns, even though the tax returns should—according to him—show just how wealthy and successful Trump is.
In an interview with ABC News’s David Muir, Trump ran through his usual arguments for hiding his financial situation from voters:
“I think people don’t care,” Trump said Monday afternoon in Ohio of his tax returns, which he has not released. “I don’t think anybody cares, except some members of the press.”
Trump said he’s provided the “most extensive financial review of anybody in the history of politics” and because he’s under a “routine audit,” he’s not able to make his tax returns public.
The average voter is probably not going to make a decision based on whether Donald Trump releases his taxes. But is there something in those taxes that would move some voters if they only knew it? Because Trump’s claim that he can’t release his tax returns because he’s being audited is definitely a load of crap. Mr. “the beauty of me is that I’m very rich” doesn’t want us to know just how beautifully rich he really is.
