Judge Kyle Carter is seeking re-election to the 125th Civil District Court. Daryl Moore is running for the bench of the 333rd Civil District Court. These state district courts are trial courts for major cases. For this campaign season I am a volunteer. I am not a lawyer.
Judge Kyle Carter was first elected to his bench in 2008, re-elected in 2012. He earned his law degree at the South Texas College of Law. He is also a graduate of Strake Jesuit and The University of Texas at Austin. His brother Eric William Carter is seeking election to a Justice of the Peace court.
Before he was elected judge he served 8 years as a trial lawyer to the Carter Law Firm. He worked on business litigation of many sorts.
As judge he has served as chair of the Civil Court Committee on Special Dockets and as Secretary of the Civil Court Board of Judges.
He has often been a speaker to groups such as the State Bar of Texas. He has worked with students and often spoken at schools.
On June 26, 2015, this country’s Supreme Court announced its decision on Obergefell v Hodges, thus to make marriage equality the law of the land. In Houston Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart thought he saw a problem about marriage license forms and delayed applicants. Our County Attorney Vince Ryan said no problem and by 3 PM same-sex couples were getting their licenses. Judge Kyle Carter performed the first such marriage in Harris County, between 2 men. Let’s vote to help get marriage equality entrenched. I should point out that Judge Carter is married to Melanie Carter; marriage equality is supported not just by glbt’s.
Daryl Moore also has his law degree from the South Texas College of Law. He has a BA from The University of Texas and MLA from Houston Baptist University.
He has 25 years diverse experience in civil cases, both state and Federal. For Federal practice he is licensed in the Southern District of Texas and before the Supreme Court. He was once a briefing attorney for the Texas Fourteenth Court of Appeals.
He is an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Law School. Previously he taught at the South Texas College of Law and the University of Houston Law Center. In 2016 he received the Best Lawyers in America award.
Daryl Moore is married to Mark Smith. Once again, we can vote to entrench marriage equality.
Campaigns cost money and your donations would be appreciated. The candidates’ websites have donation pages.
