Want to do something constructive to stop this from happening again? Call your state legislators and ask them to introduce bills to change the ballot access laws in your state to require disclosure of tax returns in order to get your name on the ballot for president. Don't want to show your tax returns? Good luck running a write-in campaign for president.
Every state already has requirements to get on the ballot. And no major party would ever accept not having their candidate on the ballot in all fifty states, so even if only one or a few states made it a requirement, we would never see a major party candidate run without releasing their tax returns ever again.
I just called my state legislators. Cheers to Bert Johnson for having a friendly staffer to take my message. Jeers to Bettie Cook Scott with her "mailbox full" (but I sent a message via her web site). You can have a much greater impact at the state level since each politician is representing many fewer voters. Look 'em up and call 'em today!
