A few years ago Rolling Stone had a great article up on Goldman Sachs and how they’ve basically caused every financial crisis since the Great Depression.
Now, Trump wants to install six of them into our government.
Trump likes that there are bubbles because when they burst, as they always do, he can be the vulture that makes a killing.
Two years before the housing market collapsed in 2008 and millions of Americans lost their homes, Donald Trump said he was hoping for a crash.
"I sort of hope that happens because then people like me would go in and buy," Trump said in a 2006 audiobook from Trump University, answering a question about "gloomy predictions that the real estate market is heading for a spectacular crash."
"If there is a bubble burst, as they call it, you know you can make a lot of money," Trump said in the 2006 audio book, "How to Build a Fortune." "If you're in a good cash position -- which I'm in a good cash position today -- then people like me would go in and buy like crazy."
Why not use a simple message even Trump voters can understand.
“Donald Trump wants to include six Goldman Sachs executives into the highest levels of government after their bank has basically caused every financial crisis since the Great Depression.”
or
“Trump’s judgement is so bad he put the bank that helped caused the Great Recession in charge of the country.”
Okay so I may not have a future in political advertising but I have faith in you guys. I just think we need to stop referring to them as “wall street” and start talking about who these people are and what they’ve already done to our country.
The estimated cost of the 2008 Recession was more than $22 trillion.
The 2008 financial crisis cost the U.S. economy more than $22 trillion, a study the Government Accountability Office published Thursday said. The financial reform law that aims to prevent another crisis, by contrast, will cost a fraction of that.
The republicans can keep arguing about our national debt but when the bankers cause as much damage in a few years as what the entire country has used to fund itself is an outrage. The fact that Obama didn’t go after the bankers is one the disappointments I’ve had in him. I think a lot of the anger the trump voters have is because so many got hurt and no one was ever held accountable. Our country needed that to heal. People who caused so much pain needed to publicly be held accountable and they never were. And that’s what’s led them to come in for the death blow. There are emerging markets in India and China that can replace the role of the United States. The corporations are trying to drain every last dollar from the American public before Trump pardons them and they ride off into the sunset to plan their coup against the next government they want to take down.
Before I get too fatalistic, I want to bring it back to my original point. Our messaging has sucked over the years IMHO. We have big ideas and those take more than 140 characters. But we have to hit harder and stop with the nuance. Get to the point and repeat, over and over, in every small town newspaper, on every interview. Next point, repeat, etc. etc. Russia can’t be the only story although it’s huge. We need to expose him on every front we can and this is huge because I can’t even begin to imagine the financial hell they are about to unleash.
