Bill Kintner, the married Nebraska state senator who made headlines last fall when he refused to resign after it was revealed he masturbated on a Skype call (using a state computer) with someone he met online and the online mistress tried to extort $4,500 or release the video, is once again making headlines. During the Women’s March on Washington, Kintner took to Twitter to retweet a photo of three women holding signs that had messages about “pussy grabbing” not being acceptable. Thinking he was a comedian, Kintner tweeted (and later deleted) the photo with the caption, “Ladies, I think you’re safe.” Get it? Hahaha. So funny. Sexual assault joke and making fun of these women’s appearances — it was a two-fer!
After the legislature launched another investigation into his bad behavior, Kintner has decided to throw in the towel and resign. In a recorded statement, flanked by a minister at his side, he said progressives would call this a win (we are) and ended by noting we “won’t have Bill Kintner to kick around anymore.” Poor dear. Needless to say, the women of the Nebraska legislature won’t miss Bill Kintner:
Regarding the controversial tweet, Sen. Kate Bolz said, "This is an issue about the protection and safety of women."
Sen. Carol Blood said, "Please, please, please let us get our work done and please stop making jokes that pertain to women and their bodies."
