The Whiny Orange One's obsession with his inauguration surely being bigly larger than Obama's continues to fester. He can't keep himself from comparing himself to the Last Great President, and it just kills him that he falls short in most critical measures. For instance:
The Obama inauguration was a historic event; grand and uplifting, filled with pomp, talent, excitement, and joy. The Trump version was better attended than your usual white supremacist function, filled with pompousness, thin on talent, exciting if you are fond of harangues, and joyless as watching the Statue of Liberty being vandalized.
During the after-inaugural parade the stands were jammed to overflowing with people who wanted to see President Obama. The Trump stands were largely empty but for a few homeless people taking advantage of this pop-up bivouac spot. That will be the last help they get from him. Worse yet, Trump got out of his car to do a sleazy and self-serving infomercial as his hotel was passed by, and no one watched.
Obama was, and remains tall, handsome, athletic, and charismatic. Trump is short, built like a diabetic penguin, athletic as a bottom-tier Duffer League bowler who chugs a twelve-pack before lunch, and his charisma grows more elusive every day.
Obama is a thoughtful, learned man who has read widely on a variety of subjects. Trump's idea of thinking involves a Magic 8 Ball, he seems incapable of learning anything, it's rumored he once read the box his Eggo Waffles came in, and has no intention of ending his belligerent ignorance about almost everything.
Obama's first best-seller was a thoughtful meditation on his growing up. Trump's first best-seller was written by someone else.
Obama has a loving relationship with a beautiful, accomplished woman he met when he was young; he and Michele have raised two amazing daughters destined for greatness. Trump is currently married to his third off-shored model, has had children with three separate wives, and certainly every one of those children could have gotten where they are on their own, without Daddy's money and help and connections greasing the skids for them just the way their daddy did. For sure.
Obama took office when the country was on the verge of collapse. Patiently, and in spite of the brutal opposition of partisan hacks who put petty party spite (and their own racism) ahead of the good of the people, managed to pull it back from the brink and get it turned around. Trump inherits the decent economy Obama left him and is working to destroy it in the manner a feral tomcat destroys a litter box--then as usual he will walk away from the shredded, turd-filled mess he created and blame someone else.
Obama was a modest man of good character, and a major player on the world stage. Trump is a liar and braggart, with the stability and ethical sense of a major drug lord. He would make a so-so character on a bad reality TV show. Another one.
Obama was a gifted orator who could move audiences to tears. Trump sounds like a WWF announcer who has taken one too many folding chairs to the head.
Obama patiently absorbed more abuse--much of it racially motivated--than any man should have to stand. A fair amount of it came from Trump. Trump rages and whines over every slight, real or perceived; how dare someone impugn the legitimacy of the sitting president! Really! How dare they?
Obama sought out and put to work on his and our behalf some of the smartest, most qualified and fair-minded people he could find. Trump has surrounded himself with toadies, lickspittles, propagandists, conspiracy theory peddlers, slavering xenophobes and bigots, smirking homophobes, Christian Taliban crazies, the scum of the corporate and finance world and associated whores to it, and people whose sole qualification seems to be their ability and willingness to lie every time they open their mouths.
There were times Obama had to ask himself: What would Lincoln--or Martin Luther King, or FDR--do? Trump asks himself daily: What would Putin do? Or want me to do?
President Obama was a steady candle, held up against the darkness.
Trump is a Dumpster full of burning garbage, throwing off greasy clouds of toxic fumes, hazardous to terrestrial life, and threatening to blot out the sun.
