Subir already wrote a good diary on this issue, with the following quote:
Sen. Chris Coons, D-Delaware, a member of the Judiciary Committee told CNN he is still seething over the Republicans' decision to block Judge Merrick Garland from filling the seat when they refused to hold hearings and votes on his nomination last year.
"But I'm not going to do to President Trump's nominee what the Republicans in the Senate did to President Obama's," Coons said. "I will push for a hearing and I will push for a vote.
Other Democrats privately agreed with that sentiment.
But a diary on DKos is not enough. We need to take immediate action.
Coons felt it was safe to stick his neck out on this because he was re-elected in 2014; he doesn't have to face a primary until 2020. We have to show him that he's wrong; that we will remember this.
Lisa Rochester is the Congressperson from Delaware. She's a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and was endorsed by the Progressive Democrats of Delaware. If Coons wimps out on the SCOTUS, and if she primaries him in 2020, I personally pledge $100. If she makes a statement supporting a SCOTUS filibuster, I'll give her half of that money now. I'll be on the phone as soon as it's 9:00 to let both of them know that.
Chris Coons: (202) 224-5042 (DC); (302) 573-6345 (Wilmington); (302)736-5601 (Dover).
Lisa Rochester: (202) 225-4165 (DC) ; (302) 830-2330 (DE); schedule a meeting
This is how you herd politicians. You find the one who stands out from the rest, and you make them regret it (or, as the case may be, you show them it's a good idea).
No. More. Dry. Powder.
