Full disclosure, I lived in California from 1991 to 2008. As a former Washingtonian, & Alaskan, I was surprised how much I fell in love with California. Now on my 4th west coast state, Oregon, I am still in love with California.
Now to the point of this diary…
Governor “Jerry” Edmund G Brown, Jr. laid down the gauntlet on December 14th, in a speech to the American Geophysical Union; where he emphatically stated that California will continue it’s work on fighting climate change, regardless of what the upcoming administration does to try and stop the work.

"We've got the scientists, we've got the lawyers and we're ready to fight,"
Well, today they now have a lawyer, Eric Holder, Jr. Yes, that Eric Holder. The former Attorney General of the United States.
The California state Legislature hired Holder to represent them in expected, upcoming battles with the Trump administration. According to the NYT, the state Democrats pulled no punches in their announcement:
“Having the former attorney general of the United States brings us a lot of firepower in order to prepare to safeguard the values of the people of California,” Kevin de León, the Democratic leader of the Senate, said in an interview. “This means we are very, very serious.”
“It was very clear that it wasn’t just campaign rhetoric,” Mr. de León said of Mr. Trump’s proposals over the past year. “He was surrounding himself with people who are a very clear and present danger to the economic prosperity of California.”

This is an example of what voting for Democrats can produce. ALL of the state wide offices are held by Democrats and the Democrats have a super majority in the state legislature. The Legislative & Executive branches are both prepared to stand up to Trump.
I know we are all looking to our US Senate and Congress to resist the upcoming decimation of what we hold dear, but remember, in the words of Rep. Tip O’Neill, “All politics is local.”
Keep up the good fight, California!
