It is no surprise that Weinstein is a serial harrasser. The horn dog hollywood producer is a sordid cliche — for good reasons. It has been long been a subject/character in movies — e.g. The Godfather, et. al. .
The LA Times has a full list of all the women who have come forward with stories of Weinstein gross harrassments. www.latimes.com/…
It seems in each of these cases the women were able to reject him — some at serious cost to their careers.
In many abuse crimes only a small fraction are reported. Weinstein used variations of the same basic threats — “do me or I will do your career in” and “do me and I will make you a star” — only or in combination.
If 30 plus women have come forward, it raises other important questions — How many women complied? How many did the calculus, grit their teeth and traded themselves for roles? Will these women come forward?
Does their compliance really reduce his grossness in any way? Does their acceptance of his favors in exchange for their favor really make his coersion acceptable?
Who else does this? Weinstein is clearly not the only one.
