Last weekend, a group of investigative journalists released the so-called "Paradise Papers," a huge cache of documents that revealed how the mega-rich use offshore tax havens to hide somewhere around $10 trillion in wealth, with half of that in the hands of the wealthiest 0.001%.
And we're supposed to believe that these same tax-dodging corporations and wealthy estates need another tax giveaway. Give me a break.
Sign our petition to Congress: No more tax giveaways for corporations and the super-rich.
The leaked documents originated inside Appleby, a huge offshore law firm with clients like Goldman Sachs. In fact, the documents show that between 2002 and 2006, Trump's chief economic advisor, Gary Cohn, was president or vice president for 22 entities in Bermuda for Goldman Sachs, and Oxfam reports that Goldman Sachs is holding about $28 billion in offshore accounts.
The millions of dollars spent by Goldman Sachs in recent years to lobby Congress have helped shape the ugly tax giveaway bill that the GOP is trying to shove down our throats. But when these kinds of corporations lobby for tax giveaways, working class Americans pay the price. No thanks.
We don't need companies like Goldman Sachs calling the shots. That's why I'm not taking corporate PAC donations in this campaign, and it's why I'll fight corporate power every day in Congress instead of helping them get more cash at the expense of everyone else.
