As you must surely be aware, “The Trump administration is prohibiting HHS agencies from using certain words and phrases in official documents being prepared for the 2018 budget”.
I need to give credit for the phrase in the image to my awesome gay poet friend. He is as shocked and angry as we all are of the “sensorship” of the Trump dictatorship.
Just to recap:
Policy analysts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta were told of the list of forbidden terms at a meeting Thursday with senior CDC officials who oversee the budget, according to an analyst who took part in the 90-minute briefing. The forbidden terms are “vulnerable,” “entitlement,” “diversity,” “transgender,” “fetus,” “evidence-based” and “science-based.”
In some instances, the analysts were given alternative phrases. Instead of “science-based” or “evidence-based,” the suggested phrase is “CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes,” the person said. In other cases, no replacement words were immediately offered.
The news that Trump is sensoring certain words he dislikes hearing, reminds us that there is a stream of shocking news from the White House hitting us in the face every day, but that they are too many to allow us to react, and as this Guardian article aptly points out “While you’re looking the other way, Trump is changing America for decades to come”:
The trouble is, they [Trump’s tweets and smears and other ridiculous proclamations] keep us looking the other way. Just as they consume Trump’s energy, they divert ours, preventing us from paying attention not to what he says via Twitter, or what he may have done with Moscow, but what he’s doing right now from his desk in the Oval Office.
Please people, let’s stay focused here, let’s not stay quiet, even if we do not protest on the streets, is there more we can do before the 2018 elections to slow down Trump & Co besides calling our representatives in congress? Should we just sit back and wait for Mueller? Is that enough or should we send contributions to a particular organization defending democracy? And can someone please find a Democratic Party or Democracy defending hero with a potent and inspiring voice who will lead the battle against this evil trainwreck of an administration? Why have we not found one yet?
This list is getting longer and the longer it gets the closer Trump inches to taking our rights away:
