Even though he is in an uphill battle, Doug Jones is vastly out-raising and outspending Roy Moore. If he does not win, it will not be because he didn’t have the resources. I have seen a lot of really optimistic diaries here on DailyKos and read some articles both local and national that suggest Jones has a possible path to victory. I believe he might win. The margin in Virginia surprised us, and even though I realise Alabama is a totally different story, I believe (well, hope) a lot of republicans are going to sit this one out.
Anyway… for the first time in ages, the Alabama Democratic Party has an important statewide race where they can actually win. Several stories, including one in the NYTimes, has featured how underfunded the state party has been for so long and how depleted of resources they are. This race also presents a chance to do some party building in Alabama.
I would urge everyone to donate to Doug Jones, because he is in one of the clearest struggles between good and evil going on right now. But I urge you to also consider donating to the Alabama Democratic Party.
Then you both help Doug Jones get elected next Tuesday, AND you help build the state party that has been neglected for so long. Those who have stayed put and been active in the party during the last couple of trying decades would get resources and a lift ahead of the important 2018 elections.
Consider this: The front line in 2018 might not be Ohio or North Carolina. It might be Alabama. The 2018 elections arrive after another full year of the Trump presidency in it self, and the Muller investigation on top of that. By that time Trump has embarrassed the USA twice a day (at least) for another year and he has at least two sons/son in law in jail.
2018 will be a wave election and with this boost that the Alabama Democratic Party get through this campaign and the election of a US Senator, they will be ready to take advantage of that wave election.
In 2018 there will be a governors election i Alabama, where the sitting republican governor supported a child molester. There is the state house and senate election, and of course the elections for The House of Representatives. The districts in Alabama are under normal circumstances not competitive. But the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th districts are all between R+15 and R+18 CPVI. That might be doable in 2018. And if it’s only for two years, that will be two great years.
So if you are willing and able, why not support Doug Jones and help build the state party, by donating to the Alabama Democratic Party!
Also, free way to support them is doing something so simple as liking their Facebook page, and liking their posts, so they get more organic reach on what they post.
