Standard disclaimer: Leave your loathing of meta, World of Warcraft, or community diaries outside. If you think we should be playing your MMO instead, start a guild and write a recruitment diary. Don't leave a comment here and then get all hurtful when it isn't received with flowers and candy. This goes double for people coming in to attack guildies over other diaries or comments - STAY OUT! Link to your recruitment diary is OK though.
Standard advertisement: Wreck List is the Daily Kos World of Warcraft guild. We are Horde-side on the Garrosh server. We're getting close to the membership cap, so we'll have to put you on a waiting list if you want to join. To get on the list, read this diary and visit the Guild web site. Yes, you have to be Horde. No, you don't have to be hardcore - casuals, PvPers, and people that just want to hang out on guild chat are all welcome.
More below the fold:
The first wing of Antorus is open on LFR, for those of us that want a low-pressure ride to see what the last raid of Burning Legion is like. Spoiler: lots of green fire.
The first wing of Antorus, Light’s Breach, covers the Garothi Worldbreaker, Felhounds of Sargeras, and Antoran High Command boss fights. Additional wings will open up on Dec. 19, Jan, 2, and Jan. 16.
We also have a Team Pm report from Papagenia:
Team Pm raid report:
It was a good week in Antorus for Wreck List. Team Pm pushed a bit further on Monday night, taking down the Portal Keeper and then successfully defending Eonar. The Portal Keeper fight is another dance step heavy encounter, with timed entries into various portals for most of the raid while a tank, healer and a DPS or two keep the main boss busy on the central platform. The only tricky element is the purple portal which takes us into a darkened area that must be lit by fire we have to take in there with us from the main platform - we've had a bit of trouble getting straight who was taking it and where to put it. Nonetheless, we got it done.
The Defense of Eonar fight is worthy of an extended description, as it is beautiful and so much fun! If there is such a thing as a lighthearted battleground, this is it. First, the environment is reminiscent of the Terrace of Endless Spring in Mists of Pandaria - it's open air, with platforms at various heights and grand staircases leading to them, and temples at the various levels out of which mobs emerge. The idea is to defend Eonar from her attackers until she is fully healed or protected (something like that anyway). Essentially the raid has to race around the area when new packs of mobs appear to take them down and then move on to the next. There are packs of devil dogs, big mechanicals, flying bats and aerial bombardments. Most importantly - and most fun - there are JET PACKS! These are necessary to get around to the various levels quickly, but I think that's just an excuse to give us a super entertaining movement element for the fights. It's not a difficult encounter once you get the rhythm down of flying, gliding and running to the right spots, and it is the most fun fight I think I've ever seen in a raid. I want to start a petition to Blizz to move the rest of the Antorus fights into Eonar's place, as I really didn't want to leave, it's so beautiful!
Tuesday night, we thought about trying the first fight on heroic (Team Kaels did just that a bit later on Tuesday and got it down), but decided we'd rather try to push thru the first 3 or 4 more quickly, which is what we did. We're now 4 of 11, and next Monday we'll try the Antoran High Council again, which we did a few pulls on last week, and hopefully move further into the raid instance. Team Kaels, according to the logs, is now 8 of 11 normal, and 1 of 11 heroic, so great progress for them as usual!
[UPDATE] I have a raid report update from Taymatt as well:
Taymatt would like to add an update too.
First, a technical note: the folks that raid on Tuesdays (who aren't in Papa's group) and on Wednesdays don't call ourselves 'Team Kaels' anymore. We haven't really wanted to do that since Warlords of Draenor. There has not been any need for distinct raid 'teams' since flex was introduced at the end of Mists and raid sizes were no longer fixed at 10 or 25. Ever since then, we have encouraged and invited anyone and everyone in the guild who is of appropriate level and gear to come with us. The same goes for the Sunday night raid.
Second, some details on our progress. Papa is right: the first boss was pretty easy on heroic, so we knocked him out. As for the other bosses we are now 8/11 on normal. Not sure what we will be doing in the next couple of weeks - folks will be leaving for holiday travel. Anyone who is willing, able, interested, and available whisper Ajia, Zephyrs, Taymatt, Voban, Tejasgeek, Austeer, Varond, Zutter, or Jkm in game!
That's all I have for this week. For the Horde!
