Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met with Donald Trump at the White House on Friday to reportedly “reaffirm the United States' commitment to the defense of Japan.” Given the expression by the PM after shaking Trump’s hand for 19 seconds straight might give the appearance that the prime minister is not be feeling his country will be all that safe.
During the meeting, Trump states:
"We will work together to promote our shared interests, of which we have many.”
Trump also:
- Declined to specify how he would proceed in the wake of an appeals court decision against his proposed travel ban from seven Muslim countries. Options include a Supreme Court appeal or rewriting the travel order. "We are going to keep our country safe," Trump said.
- Said his administration will be able to block any terrorist attacks. "We will not allow that to happen," he said.
“We will not allow that to happen…” he says, because Donald Trump is omnipresent, a sort of god, a fake god. And the Japanese PM showed his fake faith and fake admiration for Trump until finally releasing himself from the awkward handshake that seemed to last —forever.
Here’s a CNN clip via @BraddJaffy. Notice how Trump seems to yank the prime minister’s hand each time Shinzo Abe tries to pull away. At one point, a request that might be in Japanese comes from the press, and Trump asks, “What did they say?” The PM explains to Trump that the reporters are saying, “Please, look at me!”
Here’s a nice GIF to compliment the clip:
Rather than blatantly appear to be saying, “WTF is wrong with this guy” or “Oh, shit what am I doing” to the viewing world, perhaps it would behoove world leaders to simply refuse to meet with fake president.
