Elise Stefanik has been MIA in her district, NY21. Many, many constituents have called her requesting a town hall meeting this break, or at least small group meetings with her. Her response: a Facebook post excoriating her constituents for calling her office, calling them “disruptors,” and threatening to get the local law enforcement and Capitol Police involved:

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-Willsboro) posted to Facebook this week that her staff has been targeted and harassed by activists. “If it gets out of hand,” she wrote, “we will continue to contact local law enforcement and U.S. Capitol Police.”
But liberal activists in the region reacted angrily to the idea that they’ve bullied or harassed the congresswoman’s team. “We were extremely polite and respectful to her staff-member in the office there," said Joe Seeman, one of the organizers of a rally outside Stefanik’s office this week in Glens Falls. “We are pro-democracy activists. We’re all committed to non-violence, not just non-violence meaning we’re not going to harm anyone or bash anything. But we’re speaking to people with respect and common decency. So the idea that we’re disruptors who they need to call the police on is absolute and total baloney.”

The Town Hall meeting will be in Glens Falls, NY, next Wednesday, Feb. 22nd at Crandall Library; doors open at 4PM. All constituents are welcome — and the grassroots group has made that clear. Many of Stefanik’s voters are unhappy with her as well, as a look at her Facebook page will show. Stefanik has said that she won’t be attending, but the citizens are still having the gathering, welcoming constituents to discuss issues they are concerned about. They questions and comments will be recorded, and Some of the hot topics on her Facebook page are her votes about the streams and the mentally ill and guns.
Here is the updated info about the town hall. Stefanik is not planning on attending this town hall, citing a prior engagement.

Interesting to note is that some of the local media is trying to paint this group as paid protestors, or that Moveon.org is setting this up. While a man who works with moveon.org at times is involved, this is really a group of people who have found each other on Facebook and have been trying to organize this, with no central control at all.
Please share this with others who may live in the area, and if you are local, please come!! Get there by 4PM — hopefully, the meeting will be well-attended.
