Ok, my fellow Kossaks, I am trying my best to lift us out of our pain and anger over the prospects of having someone we despise in the White House who didn’t even win the popular vote.
Gee that sounds familiar….. Wait a minute, the exact same thing happened 16 years ago! And guess what? The same idiots who were running our party then are still running our party now! We really shouldn’t expect to get different results from the same people and the same conditions that gave us the same results 16 years ago. When you are winning, consistency is great. When you are losing it’s time for a change. There should be no fear of someone new coming in and things getting worse. How could they get any worse? Or am I missing something and what we really want to do is keep losing as long as we can keep these same knuckleheads at the helm of our party?
Next, let me ask, why are we mad at Trump? Was he supposed to listen to us and lose? I have blogged with many folks on Kos over the last week who honestly and passionately think that Trump will be impeached or resign if we keep insulting him and making fun of his family. IMHO there is very little chance of either impeachment or resignation. But what happens if Trump is impeached or resigns? How will that improve things? We will then get Pence along with the same Repub congress and the same lunatic Supreme Court. Can’t we see that irrational hatred directed at Trump is futile? I am worried that this blind hatred and irrational thinking will shift our focus away from the one chance we do have of actually changing things — cleaning our own house so we will have a shot at a credible showing in the 2018 elections.
I am not alone in my beliefs there are those on Kos and elsewhere who question our attacks on Trump. Their motivation seems to come from their hearts and I applaud that. My motivation does not come completely from the heart, I don’t like Trump at all and would like to put him in the loser column on election day. I know we are going to be on the ropes for two to four more years and that sucks. But we did it to ourselves, Trump didn’t do it to us. We have to accept that before we can get better and the best way to get back at Trump is to win. To do this we need new leaders and I haven’t seen anyone get stirred up about changing our party leadership.
We have no power to impeach, investigate, legislate or adjudicate because we lost tens of thousands of local and national elections during the last forty years. And this won’t change until we win. And we won’t win until we change.
