Last Friday, PBS Newshour did a story on grass roots activism in the era of Don. They came to my town (Westfield, NJ) and interviewed the leaders of our group, Westfield 20/20, as part of the story on grass-roots activism. The group started shortly after the election and already has over 1600 members on Facebook (still a secret group, so no link).
I got involved after reading about an incident involving the “Love Trumps Hate” sign (pictured above). It’s been torn down twice and shot with an Airsoft BB gun and now the town wants it taken down because it’s a zoning violation (which is bullshit).
Nevertheless, it persisted.
At congressional town hall meetings, citizens turn up the volume — and activism
We’re doing a weekly protest in front of Rep. Leonard Lance’s office every Wednesday (4.30 — 6.30 pm). We’re gonna vote him out in 2018!
I also went to my first town hall on Saturday and listened to Lance bob and weave for 90 minutes. He’s wobbly but is definitely not on our side.
Lance, vulnerable in 2018, faces the Trump storm
Lots of resistance going on in the New Jersey burbs!
