If you watched the Superbowl, you may have seen this ad for Audi featuring a little girl competing in a soap box race. The message behind the ad is that girls and women are worth as much as boys and men. I thought it was a good ad and certainly didn’t see anything controversial about it. Apparently, the social justice message wasn’t universally well received. The YouTube version of the ad currently has over 60,000 dislikes with only about 50,000 likes. There are also many negative comments.
“This is not what I want shoved down my throat during the Super Bowl 😣”
“Never going to buy an Audi now.”
“Can't believe they showed this during the game.”
And comments claiming the wage gap is a myth
“You idiots. That wage gap propaganda has been debunked over and OVER and OVER. Young women can do anything they are physically and mentally capable of doing, and get female-only scholarships and hiring preference if it's STEM. Stop trying to convince young women that they are helpless victims.”
“You could tell your daughter the truth. The wage gap is a myth.”
“The thing I find crazy is this whole commercial is based off a lie. Women don't make less than men. Total propaganda.”
If you have a second and a YouTube account, please pop over and like the video so we can show these misogynists there are more of us than there are of them.
