Remember when Republicans started their little word war by refusing to use “Democratic party”? It was a simple thing but it was effective in giving like minded people a verbal signal of what they stood for. And it bugged the hell out of a lot of Democrats. Time to return the favor.
First, let me say I dont have any issue with how people choose to change their names based on marriage or for that matter any other reason. But conservatives have long mocked women who dont adopt their husbands name or like Hillary, reassert their former last name in their identity. In light of this, Elaine Chao and her husband Mitch McConnell seem to be getting a free pass. No more. We need reporters to start asking questions of “Senator Mitch Chao” and “Secretary McConnell.” Eventually one of them will get mad about it and then you have the nice line of attack of “why do you hate traditional marriage so much?” Plus, it opens up the nice speculation on why so many Republicans who are anti immigration seem to be married to immigrants. And if you are REALLY evil, it opens a whole nasty line of questioning into “Senator Chao’s” sexuality. Its worth it just to see the Fox talking heads explode because they WANT to agree but can’t.
Next up — Ted Cruz. Cruz was born in Canada and was a Canadian citizen. He renounced his Canadian citizenship only when it became impossible for him to not do so. Cruz is currently knee deep int he fight to dismantle the ACA. Opportunity!
“Senator Cruz, compared to the system in your native Canada, how is the ACA worse?”
“Senator Cruz, having been born under the Canadian universal health system, how do you think your plan will be better for new mothers?”
“Senator Cruz, in inflation adjusted dollars, how much did your mother pay for your birth in Canada compared to the average American today under the ACA?”
“Why cant we simply implement the system in your native Canada here?”
“As a natural born Canadian, do you think you have a better relationship with Canadians law makers than Donald Trump?”
Speaking of the President, time to go after his many ladies.
“President Trump, given Melania’s limited command of English, do you think your second wife, Marla Maples, would have been a more effective First Lady? How does Melania compare to Ivana? Sir, I meant as a first lady, not that other thing….”
“How will your new Education Secretary help immigrants like your first and third wife learn English so the rest of us don’t have to press 1?”
“President Trump, two of your three wives grew up in Communist education systems while your second wife grew up as an American. What can Melania tell Betsy DeVos about Communist education that can help her reform the American Education system she thinks is so broken?”
“President Trump, two of your three wives were immigrants. Do you think that gives you an advantage in connecting with the plight of people wanting to come to the United States for a job?”
“President Trump, two of your three wives came from countries that were enemies of America during the Cold War. How do you think their experiences growing up hating America shaped their view of the American people?”
“In all of your marriages, you have only married one American. Why is that?” (Bonus points for a “buy American” jab here)
And just to tie things together, “Like Mitch McConnells wife Elaine Chao, your second wife Marla kept her last name. Did you ever consider going by Donald Maples? Would you have an issue if the Majority Leader became Senator Mitch Chao?”
One more — Marco Rubio. Rubio famously pledged to be a private citizen by now but revered his decision because of the Orlando night club shooting. His craven exploitation of other peoples suffering deserves scorn.
“Senator, as a Cuban who was deeply impacted by the Orlando night club shooting, how do you think Donald Trump should have banned travelers from Cuba considering the last Americans killed by refugees were Cuban?”
“Senator, the Orlando night cub shooting that impacted you so much was carried out by a Native New Yorker. Timothy McVeigh, who murdered 168 Americans was also from New York. Given that no citizens from the 7 Muslim Ban countries have killed any Americans in terrorist attacks while New Yorkers are responsible for two of the largest terror attacks, would you be in favor of a travel ban on New Yorkers?”
I love Democrats but at times I dont like them. Why? Because they are too nice. Respecting Elaine Chao’s choice to keep her name is wonderful but when in comes from people who dont even respect the privacy of other peoples marriages, they deserve all the verbal pain we can heap on them. And for someone like Rubio to exploit the suffering of people for his political goals is disgusting, Hit them hard and make them uncomfortable. Sick the crazies they created on them. Make Cruz have to explain to someone in rual West Virginia that he is a “real” American. Make McConnell explain to a bible clutching Iowan that his wife is different. Make Rubio yell “Im not Cuban!” while “explaining” how actual murderers shouldn't face a travel ban. And PLEASE give “Little Marco” the opportunity to ban “Der Orange” from traveling. And I shouldn't have to explain the goodness of reminding people that their “family values” President doesnt value anything but money.
Get MEAN people!!
