The nausea inducing Mitch McConnell went feo mano - a- hermosa mujer against Elizabeth Warren.
He not only lost. He tried to punch her out like a drunken street brawler.
Like a black belt in aikido (合気道) she deftly used his angry momentum and threw him across the Senate floor using the rarely seen (because it is invisible to the naked eye) ghost move.
From a search of “nevertheless she persisted”
The Republican leadership is entrenched and arrogant. The likes of McConnell and Ryan believe they can manipulate Trump.
They don’t feel their positions are in jeopardy. They don’t believe Trump can destroy them or the party, the latter at least not quite yet.
They are digging in their jackbooted heals and will vote for Sessions no matter what. He’s one of them, and for now they don’t want to set Trump off on an unhinged rampage.
If Trump goes inarguably berserk they also know they have the authority to invoke the 25th Amendment.
They aren’t loyal to Trump. They aren’t loyal to the United States. They are only loyal to themselves.
In addition to the 25th Amendment solution, they hold (I hate to say this) the trump card of impeachment. At any time they know they will have grounds, and because they control the House (where impeachment starts) and the Senate (where it ends) they know it would be a done deal soon after it starts.
An example of reckless arrogance can be seen in how McConnell dealt with Elizabeth Warren when she tried to read Corretta Scott King’s letter. Today other Democrats are reading the letter in the Senate and daring McConnell to invoke the rarely (if ever) used Rule 19. Even dumb-shits should realize that when a senator is up for a presidential appointment it may be impossible to speak against him or her without impugning their good name. As if all senators have a “good name”…….
