As the earth cycles towards our season of rebirth and awakening, I’m reminded not to forget the season’s quirks and the groundhogs curse.
On February 2, we were supposed to be on our way to an early Spring. My aging bones were looking forward to this and I was happy with the groundhog’s prediction! This week, Avilyn posted a diary updating Aji and Wings’ home building project. I began, as a follow-up, to start today’s diary thinking about Spring, however this is what I woke up to this morning.
My bones were not happy about this. Only yesterday I was cooing over these blooms:
These are the jokes that are played on our senses and sensibilities. We are filled with the sights of life and rebirth and then Wham! We get smacked with seeing yesterdays flowers looking like this:
Aji and Wings have been living through these ups and downs throughout this Winter and since they began their home building project in earnest last year. They’ve had no ability to rest and slumber quietly as Winter passes through… and no ability to rest and enjoy the coming signs of Spring — because the work hasn’t been done to complete their home.
This diary is a reminder that we have an on-going fundraiser, to help them reach their current goal at least. There have been some major setbacks (electrical once again that then required major re-working) and this will not get their home finished, but it does get them closer to the ultimate goal — which is to have a real roof over their heads to shelter them from whatever the seasons bring them. Our group is trying to bring them back some hope to see this project through.
So here’s how you can help:
HOW TO HELP
- The YouCaring fundraiser allows you to donate specifically to this cause. You can also share the fundraiser via social networks by using the “Grab Our Widget” button (and other social media buttons) on that page.
- Their Amazon wishlist mostly supports the health needs of their rescue animals and themselves, if that’s more your style.
- Purchases from Wings Silverworks will help them make a living the way they’d prefer, by selling Wings’ work as an exceptionally talented NDN silversmith and photographer.
- If you prefer, donate via PayPal at Aji’s blog, or at her Tumblr blog where she posts her own writing and photography.
- Kosmail belinda ridgewood if you absolutely need to donate by mailing a paper check.
- And Tweet, share on FaceBook, tip/rec/republish on Daily Kos, randomly email your friends about it, drop it into casual conversations. This seems minor, but it is not! When you share, please link to this YouCaring page, or embed the widget!
With every storm, we all need to remember, behind it comes back:
Can you help? We have another set of matching funds that will bring us up and over the set goal if we can raise another $500. Thanking all in advance for whatever you can add!
