Hello Dear Kossacks,
As some of you know, my husband, Dan, was a US Vietnam vet who survived torture. Dan suffered from his injuries, both physical and psychological, for over thirty years ago, until his fatal heart attack June 12th of 2005. Dan left me a mission, to stop torture as the law, policy and practice of the US and to push to ensure that those at the top who authorized and order real live human beings to be tortured since 9/11 are held to legal account.
As part of my mission, I make a lobbying trip to Washington, DC, every year. The last few years, my trip has been organized around an excellent conference called Ecumenical Advocacy Days. It is a gathering of about 1500 to 2000 people of faith to organize and lobby around issues of social justice advocacydays.org/…
Due to living on disability support, I am unable to afford to stay in the conference hotel.
The wonderful people who usually host me are unable to do so this year. Is there a Kossack who might be able to host me ? I will be flying into town at around 7pm on the evening of April 19th, and flying out again around 10am on the morning of April 26th.
The conference itself is on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with the official lobbying day on the Monday. I will be lobbying on my own on the Thursday and Friday. I can take the Metro depending on your location.
Thanks very much for even considering this.
with gratitude,
Standing for Justice and Accountability,
For Dan,
Heather/ Chacounne
