Ohhhhh, kayyyyyyyyy… Over the weekend DJT accused President Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower.
This accusation is apparently based on something he heard Levin or Limpbaugh or some other hatewing pundit say on the radio.
Either that or it is based on something written on one of the most unreliable sites in Right Blogistan.
We’ll never know because these folks are always too embarrassed to admit where they get their information. They stick with “I heard” and “some say” and “I have just learned” without saying where they heard it, who said it, and how they learned it. Even *they* know their sources are not credible outside the RWNJ bubble...
For one thing, it’s bizarre that DJT knows so little about the government he is the titular head of, that he believes presidents can singlehandedly order wiretaps. He’s probably making a list of people he’d like to bug! Wonder how long it will take for him to figure out that it doesn’t work that way.
But wait, that’s not the best part.
Of all the bat crap crazy things DJT is involved in, THIS is what the Republicon party is willing to investigate!
The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, instead of trying to find out whether a hostile foreign government interfered with our election in an attempt to install a puppet president, is actually talking about wasting time, effort and taxpayer money looking into the Trump Tower wiretap story.
How can these allegations even BE investigated when all the people in a position to know are all saying there is no factual basis to it.
And other Rcons went completely mealymouthed on the subject, stuck between a rock and a hard place—not wanting to say their president* is a liar but clearly obeying marching orders not to contradict this latest burst of lunacy.
Instead of tearing out what is left of my hair over this latest spin of the DJT’s FantasyAmerica merry-go-round, bemoaning the fact that the actual President of the United States is making these bizarre allegations while pressing international matters go unaddressed, it suddenly occurred to me today...
Maybe we can solve one problem with another. Maybe this helps us.
First of all, there are only two possible outcomes here.
Either it will be determined that there were no wiretaps, and DJT will look like the fool he is.
Or there was a FISA warrant of some kind, perhaps not directed at DJT himself but at someone else who works for him, because our government was keeping tabs on the Russian election tampering and DJT campaign members were mixed up in the Russian election tampering!
This is the same angle Chuck Schumer took on MTP yesterday:
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he believes Trump is "in trouble" whether there was a court order authorizing surveillance of his phones or "if he falsely spread this kind of misinformation."
“If he falsely spread this kind of misinformation, that is so wrong. It's beneath the dignity of the presidency. It is something that really hurts people's view of government...”
“On the other hand, if it's true, it's even worse for the President. Because that means that a federal judge, independently elected, has found probable cause that the president, or people on his staff, have probable cause to have broken the law or to have interacted with a foreign agent. Now that's serious stuff.”
[side note to Sen. Schumer—is there a truthful way to spread misinformation?]
Perhaps this is exactly what the doctor ordered.
The entire DJT administration apparatus is insisting on an investigation now, a thorough investigation, not realizing what may be stirred up on the ocean floor once the submersible gets down there.
If everyone actually starts poking into this, who knows what interesting facts might be uncovered?
Who knows what unusual leaked documents might find their way into the hands of committee Democrats?
[side note to anyone with relevant information—don’t leak to the Republicons because they will just bury it. c.f. Strom Thurmond “forgetting” to enter Coretta Scott King’s testimony in the Congressional Record because she was opposing Jeff Sessions’ nomination to be a federal judge.]
So please proceed, Rep. Nunes! Keep demanding those investigations, Scary Spice! Make sure you cooperate fully! Leave no stone unturned in searching for the truth!
I have a feeling you won’t like what is found, and that will lead to even more temper tantrums from Twitler.
