Former Freedom Caucus maniac and current Trump budget manager Mick Mulvaney is having a big few days in the spotlight, and it's pretty much a disaster so far. First, he's telling his fellow maniacs in the House that he's totally on their side (if you can believe the maniacs) in opposing Trumpcare. Then he goes on TV and tells the truth about Republicans. "Insurance is not the end goal here," he said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
He makes a quick save there by following up with a lame argument about “access.” You know he was about to say "big tax cuts" was the goal. But he catches himself just in time with a throw-away line about how you should be able to "go to the doctor." That's this year's "you can always go to the emergency room" answer to why we don't need universal insurance.
Then he moved on to the process, and why Republicans are jamming this through committees starting today.
Good CBO score or greatest CBO score in the history of CBO scores? If it's going to be so great, why exactly are they rushing the bill through before the Congressional Budget Office gets to do their evaluation? Inquiring minds—and most of the GOP—want to know.
