The further we get into The Occupant’s time in office, the weirder sh*t gets.
Following the chaos that ensued following the not one but two Muslim bans and, more recently, the incident at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on a United Airlines flight with David Dao, I’ve been reading more and more comments of people stating that they will not travel by airplane, if they can avoid it.
Flying from one destination to another was, once upon a time, my favorite way to travel, no matter whether it was short distances (which I will define as being under 500 miles) or long distances.
Nowadays, I would still prefer to fly, I suppose, if my destination were to the West Coast or deeper in the South than, say, Tennessee.
My preferred method of travel, though, is by Amtrak. It goes fast, I love watching the scenery, and the trip simply isn’t as cramped as trips by, say, Greyhound or some other bus company.
I did travel by bus from Chicago to Boston back in 2009 and that’s a little too long of a trip to be cramped up in a bus...but I enjoyed taking the train from Boston back to Chicago; the scenery was gorgeous and I prepared my own meal for that trip (as opposed to the overpriced train meals).
Still, even with all of the fantastic scenery that one can see riding the train (or even the bus) absolutely no scenery beats flying past Mount Hood in Oregon, as I did when I took several flights to Portland back in 2001-02 (it was an LDR and waaaaaay too complicated to get into here.)
Today’s question(s): What is your favorite way to travel? Will you be traveling anytime soon? Have you altered your travel plans (or method) because of current events?
