It’s April School Vacation week here in Massachusetts, which means my brain is total mush (until this Saturday’s March For Science, because I am volunteering with the Boston event!). Between trips to take K2 to and from soccer camp, I’m reading and listening to music. So what better choice for tonight’s topic than a literal spin through my music library? Grab your beverage of choice, a pair of headphones, and join us below the Story Break, after a word from our sponsors!
Here at Top Comments we welcome longtime as well as brand new Daily Kos readers to join us at 10pm Eastern. We strive to nourish community by rounding up some of the site's best, funniest, most mojo'd & most informative commentary, and we depend on your help!! If you see a comment by another Kossack that deserves wider recognition, please send it either to topcomments at gmail or to the Top Comments group mailbox by 9:30pm Eastern. Please please please include a few words about why you sent it in as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already :-)), so we can credit you with the find!
My iTunes library isn’t quite as current as any of my streaming music playlists, in part because I don’t buy as much music (see: college tuition) and also because said college student points me at lots of music on Spotify. Nonetheless, here’s the first 10 songs via shuffle play:
Three Hits by the Indigo Girls not surprised I started with this one, given the sheer number of IG songs we own
It’s All Been Done by Barenaked Ladies glad this one snuck in, I’ve only got two of their albums!
Bring Back My Happiness by Moby I really like Moby, although wikipedia telling me he’s only a year younger than me makes me feel oddly OLD, because of how youthful he comes off as.
See The Constellation by They Might Be Giants Hands-down still some of the most fun small concerts I’ve ever been to. A fellow grad student introduced me to their music and we’d go every time they played in Boston.
Maya Gold by Mike Oldfield I used to study to Tubular Bells, looking for video tonight was the first time I’d ever SEEN this performed.
Resistance by Muse Well that’s topical, now isn’t it? “Love is our resistance...”
Baby Be Mine by Michael Jackson wth, we OWN this?! I am blaming a shared family library, and this is proof I really did cough up the first ten songs from shuffle.
Breakdown by Seether I admit it. This one is mine. I really like their sound.
Vote by Emma’s Revolution Better yet is their 2017 rewrite. Great duo who deserve a far wider audience!!
Echoplex by Nine Inch Nails The NIN is for days when I really need my music loud and hard. I think I should put it back into rotation :)
Whatcha listening to these days? Please share some tidbits after checking out the Tree Tops- Comments, Mojo and Pictures, none of which are random!! Thanks go to BeninSC for formatting collaboration tonight!!

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.

From greenbird:
This comment, by G2geek, is the perfect description (to me) for a perfectly awful situation. You'll see.
From homerun:
This comment, by chewbacca (from today's live blog of the GA-06 special election), describes a clever couple's brilliant and sneaky idea to "suppress" 2 GOP votes in today's GA-06 special election. They played the "visit the new grandchild" card.
From MikeTheLiberal:
This comment, from rugbymom, points out what might be the bigger threat to our democracy, and it’s not necessarily the Republicans.
