Apparently it pays to be a serial sexual harasser. One of the men pictured above is an admitted sexual assaulter who went on to become president and one is a man with a growing list of highly credible sexual harassment claims against him over his long career. And now Bill O’Reilly is set for a huge payday as punishment for being fired. From the Financial Times:
Bill O’Reilly, the Fox News star who was fired this week amid a burgeoning sexual harassment scandal, will receive a payout of $25m, equivalent to one year’s salary, as part of his exit settlement with 21st Century Fox, according to a person with knowledge of his contract.
In July 2016, Fox News chief Roger Ailes stepped down after a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by former Fox host Gretchen Carlson. Ailes walked away with $40 million from the infotainment network. Must be nice to be rewarded so handsomely for being fired for terrible behavior—behavior that ended the media careers of some of the women who were targeted. Even with all of these payouts, to the harassed and the harassers, the key management team who enabled the serial predator behavior of these men remains firmly in place. Gabe Sherman did a great job on MSNBC of breaking down the management failure at Fox News from top to bottom.
