Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Whitehouse’s (D. RI) re-election campaign:
President Trump is on his way to becoming the most ethically challenged president in history. After promising to "drain the swamp," he's refusing to make his White House visitor records public – which will only make this swamp even murkier.
Congressional Republicans are aiding and abetting the president. They've passed the buck on oversight, making no efforts to compel President Trump to be more forthcoming. His lack of transparency is not only unprecedented, it poses a real threat to our democracy.
President Obama released records for nearly 6 million White House visitors. So far, President Trump hasn't released any.
What exactly is he hiding? And who really has his ear? We have a right to know who President Trump is meeting with. Add your name to demand President Trump publicly release White House visitor records!
This goes beyond the White House: His private club, Mar-a-Lago, which he calls the "Winter White House," charges wealthy guests exorbitant membership fees, allowing them to spend their leisure time where President Trump has spent nearly every weekend since his inauguration. And, shockingly, it doesn't keep track of the guests' comings and goings at all.
At Mar-a-Lago, President Trump has conducted government business and matters of national security out in the open. In the case of a president who spends so much time outside the White House walls, transparency must extend anywhere he regularly conducts government business. And with such an expensive entry price into these Trump-owned establishments, how can we be sure the ultra-wealthy and well-connected aren't receiving unfair access to government officials?
That's why my colleagues and I introduced legislation to require the disclosure of visitor logs anywhere that President Trump regularly handles official business. If he won't voluntarily release these records, we must mandate that he disclose them.
We need to know you're with us on this, Sam: Will you speak up and call for transparency from the Trump administration?

Thanks for helping hold the Trump administration accountable.
