‘I don’t want to be associated with him’ say 8th graders while refusing to pose with Paul Ryan.
In a report by ABCNews, 8th graders from a middle school in New Jersey created a scene after more than half of them bluntly refused to be pictures with Republican Speaker of House Paul Ryan.
The children said that it isn’t just a picture. They cannot pose with a person who puts his party before their country. When interviewed, it was found that the choice of the students to pose or not to pose with Ryan had less to do with the political affiliation of their parents and more with how they perceived the speaker themselves.
Parents were just as split about the message the students sent with their dissidence. One parents took to Facebook to complain these kids should “respect the office of the Speaker of the House, even if they disagree.”
Despite being compelled by parents, most students did not participate in the photo session with Paul Ryan.
