Watch video:
Founder of Duty to Warn, Dr. John Gartner defends his warning about how dangerous Trump is; but it’s doubtful he changed the minds of any Fox regulars. John showed a lot of class, and made all his points clearly. But this doesn’t score any points on Fox. However, let’s be clear about one thing. If this was a debate scored on logical points, Gartner won hands down. Watters won nothing for making false equivalents, outright lies, using interruption and obfuscation.
If any of us (Duty to Warn therapists) gets on Fox News again I think we need to be well prepared for what to expect if we are to persuade at least some of their less brainwashed viewers to at least not reject the proposition outright that Trump may be mentally unfit to be president. My sources tell me that there’s a possibility my not besieged friend may be invited back again. After all he made quite an impression on viewers. He’s now getting email hate messages. Here’s one, obviously from a Rhodes Scholar:
I think there are ways to level the playing field with the Fox hosts who don’t play by the rules. It would take a lot of work including rehearsing with a good actor playing the Fox host. It would of course mean reviewing a lot of previous interviews.
Then developing a strategy to suit the hosts style would be necessary, with flexible tactics depending on how good the host is on counter-attackinging. For example, one approach is to be paternalist, or even condescending, and refuse to answer some questions which are obvious attempts to bait you.
Asked to provide examples of Tweets, for example, say that Trump’s unhinged Tweets have been discussed endlessly and his sycophants will always excuse them, while level headed observers will know that they come from an abnormal mind.
A good way to parry the demand for examples is to say “I will not relitigate an issue that has been settled by the majority of nonpartisan fact checkers."
Don’t let hosts get away with rebutting you with a lie and than before you can get a word in without interrupting him, jumps to another attempt at a gotcha question. Note how Watters did this several times. I think, for example, Gartner could have come back with “of course you think the mainstream media like the A.P., which reported on observers who heard Trump saying 3 million people were bused to New Hampshire, are conveying fake news.
Ask if we’re supposed to believe the network known for turning the purveying of fake news into an art form.
Watters accused Gartner of having delusions of grandeur! We’re supposed to laugh at that?
A comeback could have been “perhaps you have delusions of grandeur thinking you know more about psychology than a highly trained psychologist.” SNAP.
Of course all this is armchair quarterbacking, and in John’s place I don’t know if I could have maintained my composure as beautifully as he did. I am still quite spry in my old age. Credit good genes and playing pickleball, and I think I could have made it over his desk and dope slapped him before he knew what was happening.

How the hell can you call your idiot ass a fucking doctor. You're nothing but a Quack. How can you say our President is mentally ill. You're a poor excuse for a piece of shit. You better hope I never fucking meet you.
You and the rest of the stupid fucks, better get shit in a row and watch your backs. You think anyone is going to give a fuck about your fantasy predictions about over President? President Trump is far more mentality stable then the asshole Democratic and Commie liberals.
You made a total ass of yourself on Fox News. Just shows how sick you and the left have gotten. There are millions of his supporters, just like me, that would love to hear your bullshit first hand. Show your sick ass at a Pro-Trump rally and see the warn welcome your going to get from the like of us. Lets see how well your rant goes over on Facebook, in my pro Trump groups. Your dumb ass is going to be enemy #1.
You're a Doctor? Fuck I can fly too. Step up and tell your story to real American that voted for him. You ain't got the guts.
Go ahead and reply to me and this email. I'd love to share your sick thoughts with Trump supporters.

John is getting hate mail, but I didn’t know this about what Bandy Lee faced at Yale (excerpt from Salon article above)
The silence was broken last week by several renowned psychiatrists at a Duty to Warn conference organized by Dr. Bandy Lee. She has formed a coalition of more than 800 mental health professionals who believe that Donald Trump is dangerous to the health and safety of their patients. Dr. Lee is working in conjunction with Dr. John Gartner, whose online Duty to Warn petition has already accumulated more than 52,000 signatures from fellow mental health professionals.
Though Lee’s town hall meeting was initially sponsored by Yale’s School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and School of Public Health, they all bailed out before the event, leaving Lee, a Korean-American woman, to run the conference alone. Despite the positive coverage of her conference, Lee told New York magazine that she has become a pariah in her department. This is not an accident: The academy and professional associations are old boy’s clubs that respond to challenges to their authority by circling the wagons.
