I am stunned to read the details. Need a minute to digest.
Personally, I think Obama should have gone public and postponed the election. This would have taken extreme courage and created a Constitutional crisis in and of itself.
Perhaps he could have gone public and asked Congress to vote on a postponement under the rubric that we were under cyberattack equivalent to war.
The article states that some Obama administration officials are agonizing over whether they did enough.
This is a new world. War is waged via the innertoobs. We need to adjust.
The initial information was handled with utmost care in sealed envelopes which were returned to secure storage inside the CIA.
The CIA package came with instructions that it be returned immediately after it was read.
Obama’s approach often seemed reducible to a single imperative: Don’t make things worse. As brazen as the Russian attacks on the election seemed, Obama and his top advisers feared that things could get far worse.

They also worried that any action they took would be perceived as political interference in an already volatile campaign.
One person thinks the Administration choked.
In political terms, Russia’s interference was the crime of the century, an unprecedented and largely successful destabilizing attack on American democracy. It was a case that took almost no time to solve, traced to the Kremlin through cyber-forensics and intelligence on Putin’s involvement.
In a very real sense, we no longer have a democracy, yet we are pretending it will all turn around. The best we can hope for is drumf’s removal and a slow rebuilding process which reconstitutes our voting systems, our political process and our political parties.
