Above is Civic Center Park in downtown Berkeley, looking East at new City Hall and towards the UC Campus.
Thousands of anti-fascists are expected to gather at various points around Civic Center plaza in just a couple of hours.
Meanwhile the organizer of yesterday’s failed San Francisco hate rally is playing games again:
The story so far:
- Ms. Cummings, the organizer of today’s Anti-Marxist aka hate rally, told people on Friday not to come — she would go to Civic Center Park alone.
- Thousands of people are planning are showing up to a ‘Bay Area Rally Against Hate’ at Oxford and Addison, a few blocks from Civic Center and an entrance to UC Berkeley, including the Mayor of Berkeley. The rally has been announced for more than week. Yesterday, UC officials told everyone to stay away (no, I’m not kidding).
- More thousands are expected at Hearst and MLK, at a rally/march hosted by SURJ (Show Up for Racial Justice).
- There are additional gatherings, many of which hope to converge on Civic Center.
These posters, and the small poster seen in the header picture at the right, “Berkeley United Against Hate” are all up all over town.
