Thousands of anti-fascists converged on Civic Center Park in Downtown Berkeley where a tiny number of fascists were attempting to… well, it’s not clear what they were attempting to do, since they were run off, some with police escort, some high-tailing it out.
As more and more people poured into the streets surrounding the park, 100-200 antifa dressed in black sallied over the barricades, followed by the crowd, and the police, who at this point had been guarding the park because… well, essentially because it was there, and that’s what they had been told to do. There was no rhyme or reason to continue a large presence in the park by the police, and sane heads prevailed as their commanders apparently ordered them to withdraw.
The sights and sounds via twitter from the days activities… so far.
