Dear Emmy Awards broadcast participants, really? A great number of you really cheered former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer last night, despite the fear, pain, and displeasure many are currently enduring due to the rampage being conducted by the man he served in the White House?
This is so not funny. It is like excusing a member of a despotic regime with applause and chuckles. We have frequently heard complaints about the media trying to normalize Donald Trump and his administration, and I guess this is a bold example.
I suppose it is worth stating: It is one thing for Melissa McCarthy to caricature Spicer in a well deserved mocking, but it is certainly entirely another thing for Spicer himself to appear on an international program and be cheered for making light of his shameful behavior in defense of Trump, who is still fighting like hell to unleash great pain, emotionally and physically, upon this nation and the world.
People, stop with your attaboys at Sean Spicer, a man who continues to back Donald Trump, even now, like most Republicans, as a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live made clear:
If Kimmel thought Spicer would dish dirt on Trump, he was disappointed. "Sean, you don't work there anymore," Kimmel jokingly egged him on. "You don't have to worry about him. We can protect you here." But Spicer remained resolute in his defense of Trump, declaring at one point, "He's a good man that really cares about this country."
Again, media, people are being negatively impacted by the policies of the current occupant of the White House, who continues to be dutifully assisted by Sean Spicer, and many of his fellow Republicans. I ask you, please stop patting these individuals on the back.
