High School Students in Denver have now walked out of class and are marching in support of the Dreamers. They represent the overwhelmingly sympathetic feeling that Americans have for these young people who just want to get on with their lives. In fact some Dreamers have been known to peacefully demonstrate that they might be given basic human consideration for their plight. This is all good it seems but after listening to the energetic defense today of the antifa shouldn't we have second thoughts about the Dreamer’s methods. Are they being too weak willed, are they "wilting"?
And that's the reason for this diary. I want to urge the apologists for the Antifa to explain why they would or would not recommend that the dreamers emulate the Antifa methods and dress up in hoods and masks and adopt aggressive, threatening attitudes and use violence in an attempt to strike fear into the hearts of those who might advocate against them. I am wondering if we should understand that these methods would raise or lower the level of sympathy and empathy they currently enjoy? Or maybe the good feelings of the American public are of no value and should be disdained?
Now perhaps I am wrong and should be corrected but it seems to me that for the dreamers to start acting like the Antifa would be a disastrous mistake and would seriously erode the public's sympathetic feeling which, again in my humble opinion, represent the best hope for an ultimate reversal of the damage Trump did to their aspirations today. I invite anyone to explain why I am mistaken.
