It was just announced that the Senate Democrats currently have 50 of the votes to pass a measure to overrule the deregulation of broadband, keeping net neutrality in place. They need 51 but it’s looking like a real possibility they could pull this off and pass a measure which would then go to the House. Currently the Senate yes votes include all 49 Dems and Susan Collins (R-Maine).

Update: Just to clear things up this would still need to make it through the House and not get vetoed but some Republicans do support net neutrality and some who are concerned about losing their seats in the midterms may come around on this. Polling shows the majority of Americans support net neutrality.
One more update: Doing a little research and it sounds like there may be a few Republicans in the House in favor of net neutrality and against the FCC deregulation plans. We need more than a few but it’s a start and maybe there are some fence-sitters that could be convinced.
