The members of the British Royal family serve numerous political functions but they are also people, just like you and me, and as such they should not be subject to unreasonable indignities. Consider the following:
1. It’s already asking a lot of Prince Harry, as a military man of demonstrated valor, to invite General Bonespurs to his matrimonial celebrations. However, it is unacceptable to expect him to invite a man who stalked his mother to his wedding:
‘Trump clearly saw Diana as the ultimate trophy wife. As the roses and orchids piled up at her apartment she became increasingly concerned about what she should do. It had begun to feel as if Trump was stalking her.
2. Meghan Markle will doubtless have to put up with many inconveniences in her new role, but it is positively shameful to ask her to share her special day with a man who is openly racist:
I was forewarned prior to meeting him that, "Mr. Trump doesn't like black people. So don't take it the wrong way if he isn't extremely welcoming towards you.
3. Although you wouldn’t know it if you’ve seen her out riding, Her Majesty the Queen is 91-years-old. She has suffered many fools in her time, but surely the British people cannot possibly think that it could be suitable to introduce her to a man whose manners are as obnoxious as Trump’s:
"He is," she told me, in words that seemed familiar, "the most vulgar man I have ever met."
I rest my case.
