Republicans have finally resorted to the one thing they know will turn out their base: scaring the shit out of them with all the talk of angry mobs, and adding in massive dollops of racism and anti-Semitism to those attacks.
But the most solid base of Republican voters shouldn't be sucked in to that manufactured hysteria, and realize where the real threat to their way of life is coming from: Mitch McConnell.
Speaking about the massive increase to the deficit—thanks to Republican tax cuts for the rich—McConnell's first instinct is entirely predictable: "It's a bipartisan problem: unwillingness to address the real drivers of the debt by doing anything to adjust those programs to the demographics of America in the future."
In case that's not clear enough, he spells it out: "we’re talking about Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid." Spending on those programs, he says, "is the real driver of the debt by any objective standard." If by "objective standard" you mean "lying Republican standard."
You want to be scared this election? There's plenty to be scared of, but none of the real threats are coming from the left.
