Call me crazy. But I see the chance for a really great solution to the problem in Dodge City, Kansas. DCCC or Kansas Dems pay for and run a brigade of buses to and from the one polling spot miles outside Dodge City.
I live in a city with a really huge fairgrounds in the middle of town. Even though large parking lots are adjacent to the fairgrounds, when the fair is in full swing the lots fill up and traffic becomes a nightmare. Solution: Run buses from three or four locations around town on a loop to pick up and drop off fair attendees.
In Dodge City it would probably take 8-10 buses running continually all day on election day from multiple locations around the city to make getting to the polling place easy and free. Even if there is a line — not to worry — another bus will be coming around in a few minutes to pick up voters after dropping off those who have already cast their votes. One pick-up/drop off spot should for sure be at the previous (now closed) polling place at the Civic Center.
Great idea, huh? I’ve already emailed DCCC with the idea. But they need to hear from a lot of us tonight to know this should happen. Or if someone has an in with the Kansas Dem, please contact them!
