UPDATED with image of the original tweet that Eddie Scarry has since taken down.
A conservative news writer is getting a lot of well-deserved blowback after posting an image of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, taken from behind as she walked down a hallway in D.C. Washington Examiner writer Eddie Scarry tweeted a photo of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez with this snarky blurb.
Hill staffer sent me this pic of Ocasio-Cortez they took just now. I’ll tell you something: that jacket and coat don’t look like a girl who struggles.
Being a conservative, Scarry clearly hopes to gain points with right wing lunatics who have chosen Ocasio-Cortez as their new supervillain, by saying that someone who is having problems affording rent in one of the most expensive cities in the country, can’t dress nicely without being some kind of secret millionaire.
Many people quickly pointed out that there is an entire industry of people and fashion that look to outfit people in clothing that looks more expensive than it costs. Others, like Raw Story pointed to An Observer article about Scarry from April of 2013, that detailed some of his blogging, filled with homophobic innuendo and frequently misogynistic tweets featuring images he surreptitiously shot of women’s rear ends, feet, legs.
Even as Mr. Scarry’s antics attracted condemnation, he remained undeterred. In August 2012, he loitered outside the Supreme Court as justices considered the constitutionality of Obamacare. There, Mr. Scarry took pictures of “weird sightings,” as he put it. Among them were several with “big butts”: “This big butt, one of many that made an already cramped event that much smaller,” he wrote after posting one picture. “Another big butt,” Mr. Scarry captioned a different picture. After the last picture of the series, Mr. Scarry wrote: “And one final series of big butts.”
The social media responses have been swift and condemning...and funny at times.
Scarry for his part has tried to redirect the story by creating a straw man argument.
Of course, that kind of dumb shit might work with the people that think Eddie Scarry is either funny or intelligent, but most people with opposable thumbs know, Eddie Scarry is at best a creep.
And my personal favorite.
Ahahahahahahahahahahaha.
